Matsu Sushi is the absolute gold standard in neighborhood sushi spots. I have been going since I was a kid and the consistency in terms of food quality, service, and pricing is amazing. My family and friends trek far and wide for a taste of this family-owned Centreville gem. A few updates or notes: They no longer do complimentary gyoza and edamame but have been able to maintain their Y2K era prices on sushi which I can appreciate. My favorite rolls include: scallop nigiri, hamachi nigiri, fatty tuna nigiri, vegas roll, spider roll, and the kabuki roll. The fried banana and ice cream is also a must, even if you are stuffed! There is a private party room in the back

This restaurant was recommended to me by a receptionist at a DRS office in Arlington! She drives all the way from Arlington just to eat here, naturally we had to check it out. I am not a sushi/seafood fan, so I ordered the chicken teriyaki and it was fantastic!! My husband is a big sushi fan and said their sushi did not disappoint. I will say the lighting/ambiance is a bit dark. It did not bother me however it may bother some people. Service was quick as we were seated promptly and brought our drinks almost immediately. Overall, I would definitely return.

Didn't think I would have a go-to sushi spot in centreville once takohachi closed but this really takes the spot. The service here was very efficient and the servers were super kind and personable. Sushi was great and tasted very fresh. I love that they have the sushi bar so you can see them prepare your food. Overall, will definitely be coming back here in the future

If I could put it shortly, the sushi is slightly above average. It's not the best sushi I have ever had like some of the reviews are raving about. I cannot tell if it's because they used to be great or maybe the taste is not consistent all the time. I was glad to be able to find a sushi restaurant with White Tuna available though. It was quite satisfying but again it wasn't the best white tuna I've ever had. I feel like something is missing in the taste of the sushi but I cannot pinpoint exactly what. Maybe I wasn't feeling the love the chef had for his/her sushi. The place isn't huge but also isn't small so you should be able to find an open table without issue. It's in a shopping plaza so there's plenty of parking outside. I have to be honest, I wouldn't drive out of my way to come back here.

So I hear the sushi is amazing here, but I actually don't eat sushi so I can't write about that. The matsu balls are good like little fried wontons. The rest of the Japanese dishes are yummy. This little gem in Centreville has been around for quite a while and there is a reason for that. Definitely check them out if you love sushi.

I won't be shellfish and gatekeep this place. Matsu sushi has ebi-thing: fresh sushi/sashimi, good prices, and kind staff. I am not a huge sushi eater, but my family and I both really enjoyed a light dinner after the spa...thanks to yelp showing me what was around. Matsu sushi had great reviews and I can see why. We came around 7:00pm on a Sunday night, and it was pretty full but luckily we were sat right away mear the sushi bar. We ordered the sushi and sashimi combo, chicken teriyaki, and Sapporo. The sushi and sashimi seemed fresh and were tasty. The chicken teriyaki came on a hot plate with lots of veggies under it, and a serving of rice on the side (just fyi--doesn't come as a bento box). Waitresses were kind and didn't rush us. Gave us all appetizer salads, miso soup despite only ordering 2 entrees. Service was good. The restaurant was clean, yet a bit small. Not super trendy for the world of instagram and tik tok, just like a neighborhood sushi house. Would recommend and would return! Glad to have discovered Matsu.

Matsu sushi is my favorite go-to sushi spot in the area! The staff are always nice and the sushi here is extremely affordable. My parents absolutely love the bento box combinations (my dad likes the beef teriyaki with shrimp tempura and my mom likes the chicken teriyaki). My sister and I loveeee their speciality rolls as well as their nigiri. Our favorite bites: - too too funky roll - spicy scallop roll - shrimp tempura roll - inari sushi - eel roll Their salad dressing is also phenomenal, and you can buy it in bulk! A few years back, their artwork on the walls was extremely random, mostly portraits of random people. They have now updated the artwork for it to be more comforting and there's a decent amount of seating inside. A lot of people will tend to do to-go orders, and their food holds up well!

The sushi here is fresh and delicious! I can't reccomend this place more because the slices of fish here are well proportioned to the rice and everything appears to be made with care. The udon was a bit meh but who goes to a sushi place for udon. That being said the tempura was quite good but the shrimp inside was a bit small. The sushi is the main star and I didn't have anything that I would consider of inferior quality or poorly made. Definitely coming back again and again!

First time at Matsu and I thought it was a good experience. Service was ok and the interior was nothing special. The food itself was the main highlight. My friends ordered the sushi and they said it was ok. I ordered the Don Katsu and enjoyed it, but I wish it had some sort of sauce on it, as the meal ended up being dry. Though it had very big portion size and the meat was cooked well. Overall, a nice place to try, but I would rather try some other Japanese restaurants.

I wanted a good sushi place in Chantilly and this one was great. I have been there 3 times or more in the past 6 months....when I want a good sushi fix, come here! Food (4/5) - Sashimi - Hamachi was just amazing here. Special rolls: I tried this roll during one visit and it was a bit too much. FIRE CRUNCH ROLL* $15.95 Shrimp tempura, cucumber & pickled ialapeno topped with spicy tuna, tempura crunch, fish roe & spicy sauce I tired this at another lunch and it was so filling that I brought half the tempura home. Lunch Special: Bento Box C - Beef Teriyaki OR Salmon Teriyaki with Tempura & 3pcs California Roll Service (4/5): Service was hit or miss the few times I have been here.
